CANTON Mixed letter size on Reaper middle, better, wonder, letters, different

I still wonder if postal clerks were personally responsible for the handstamps they used.
The O and end N are not as tall as the other letters, and the two Ns have different slopes to the middle stroke.

What better reason is there for using mixed sizes than to not have to pay for a new set of letters.



The C may be full sized. Look closely.
