There was a good cover on the Interasia Nov Auction. It is 1880 (14 Oct.) envelope from Shanghai to St. Peterburgbug, Russia, but it hadn’t been sold. The owner of the cover is my friend in Boston. I am wondering why there was no one to bid such a good cover. The following are the comments from Tony Kwan:
St. Peterburg cover, #6913, open at 48k and was unsold.
1) Too high estimate.
2) Place at the end of auction when everybody's pocket is almost empty.
3) A"pearl" placed in a group of pearls don't show it "brightness"
4) The Hong Kong heat dies out after 1997.
no idea why this one is so expensive normally you can find similar cover (1880's from British Post in Shanghai to Europe) for no more than us$1000. Do I miss shining points 作者: williamzhang 时间: 2014-11-12 11:27
"The owner of the cover thinks one of the two stamps on the cover is the variety, that is why he estimates the value of the cover is worth HK$48,000 ."
Does auction catalog mention the stamp variety? 作者: alainfang 时间: 2014-11-12 16:54

The owner of the envelope is a cover dealer in Boston. He showed me the envelope last year. I asked him what the price he wanted to sell. He said he would like to sell it at $7,000 (US Dollar). I told him the price was too high, and it is hard for him to find a buyer. He explained to me that one of the stamps on the envelope was the variety. I don't know why the auction catalogue did not mention it. Please let me know if any one is interested in the envelope. I can provide him the dealer email address and the phone number.
