2 years ago another cover sent to USA, dated May 30, with 20 stamps was sold for
HK$ 20,700. I have personally seen the above cover dated June 8. According to the auction house , there are 3 similar covers sent to USA. Another 2 covers were posted locally.
Your block of 8 stamps could have been removed from another cover sent to USA. It could be one of the earliest used cover. Unfortunately it is difficult to confirm now but the chances is quite high.作者: markringo 时间: 2015-1-14 12:25
Perhaps the best person to consult with about its authenticity and whether May 23rd is the earliest date is still Mr. Choi. I also tried to uncover his email address but found none due to my poor relation with known philatelic scholars. You say he's from Singapore. Do you have any clue where is Mr. Choi now how could we reach Mr. Choi by email or anyway and possibly hear what he say about it?作者: markringo 时间: 2015-1-14 12:27
I'm afraid the seller knows generally nothing about the rarity of this type of stamps as he told me that they are just silver yuan stamps before I bought it. He didn't mention its exlusive usage nor any cover associated with it. I strongly doubt that the seller could trace it to the original (previous) owner or any cover that might be related to. But I'll give a try. Providing he is selling hundreds of items on ebay by a monthly basis, I consider the chance of finding it low.
I've also contacted the seller, he indeed knows nothing.作者: switerst 时间: 2015-1-14 22:58
As You collect remittance stamp, Is the cancellation chop used for both remittance and postage stamp the same?作者: markringo 时间: 2015-1-16 17:39
As You collect remittance stamp, Is the cancellation chop used for both remittance and postage stamp ...

I've known no remittane form from Jiujiang so I don't know if they use the same chop, but most remittance forms will use special chop bearing "邮政储金汇业局 XX" characters around 1949 as far as I'm conerned.
One coincidence though, is that the cover that Mr. Choi holds has the extact "side number 11" (十一) of the chop on this block of eight, as implying that they might came from the same post office???
