THERE ARE ONLY NINE PROPERLY RECOGNISED EXAMPLES OF THE GREEN SURCHARGE. OF THESE, TWO ARE IN A VERTICAL PAIR WITH SHEET MARGIN AT TOP, POSITIONS 16/17, FROM THE ORIGINAL SETTING, WHICH IS IN THE CHINA NATIONAL POSTAGE STAMP MUSEUM.
ONLY SEVEN EXAMPLES ARE AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS.
The small figures green surcharge, colloquially known as "The Red Lady in a Green Dress", is regarded as a trial printing. The majority of the few surviving examples have some degree of toning due to poor storage conditions in the post office archives prior to their dispersal.
