Bonjour and Hi,

Preface; this is my first post. It is a history question re the Legion. While surfing the site, I did spend a few minutes at the French Indochina Memorial thread. After reading the history section, I now realize the value of one of my favorite quotations; "History: the agreed-upon lies." Napolean.

My question regarding Fort Bayard, Kouang-Tcheou-Wan, Luichow Peninsula, China; after Fort Bayard was leased from China in 1898, I heard that French Legionaires guarded a satellite or sub fort on the west side of the Luichow Peninsular, facing the Tonkin Gulf - the opposite side of Fort Bayard.

Does anyone know of this small French concession in China reporting to Fort Bayard? Does anyone know what units were assigned to this small French leased land on the Gulf of Tonkin?

Any and all information appreciated. Thanks in advance.
